Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions - General Info.

Many questions are also answered in the Creative Member Information, Licensee Member Information, and the About bCreative sections of our site.

So, how do I get started?
It's simple. Just register on our website. If you're a creative person who wants to submit ideas with bCreative, go to Join as a Creative Member. If you are a manufacturer interested in licensing new ideas, go to Join as a Licensee Member.

What's the difference between a Creative Member and a Licensee Member?
Excellent question. A Creative Member is the supplier of ideas and the Licensee Member is the user of these ideas. Our Creative Members are either professional creative people by trade or simply someone who has creative and marketable ideas. Licensee Members are manufacturers who make all different kinds of products that display or use creative content. Think posters, T-shirts, greeting cards, calendars, magnets, key rings, and all kinds of gift, apparel, toy, home decor and novelty items. Manufacturers register with bCreative and after acceptance and agreement to our licensing contract are able to come on-line, conduct a search, and license their selections from the vast array of creative ideas submitted by Creative Members.

How much does it cost to join bCreative?
Nada. Zippo. Zilch. Membership is free to Creative Members and Licensee Members. We make our money on royalties generated from the sales of licensed products made by our Licensee Members. These royalties are then split with the Creative Member that created the idea that appeared on the licensed product. That means we don't make money unless our Licensee and Creative Members make money too. All is fair in love and bCreative!

How "private" is my account?
Really, really, really private. Trust us, we know how important this is to you.
For the protection of all the members of the bCreative community, all business conducted through the bCreative site is password protected and traceable for both the creative talent who submit ideas, and the manufacturers who review them. Both parties must register and agree to all terms and conditions of the their license agreements with bCreative before they become active members of the bCreative community. In addition, a Creative Member is never referred to on the site by their real name. Therefore, all submissions are anonymous and the Creative Member stays in complete control of who knows about their work and success with bCreative. Please read more information about your protection in our Privacy Policy and Site User Agreement.

What exactly is "licensing?"
Licensing is the business of leasing the rights to use a legally protected name, graphic, logo, saying, or likeness (in bCreative's case, an idea submitted by a Creative Member) in conjunction with a product, promotion, or service. It is usually accomplished by a formal agreement between the owner or agent of the idea (the "Licensor") and the prospective user of the idea (the "Licensee"), who is usually either a manufacturer, a supplier of services, or an agent.

What role does bCreative play in the licensing of the Creative Member's idea and who owns the intellectual property rights to the idea?
bCreative is not a third party agent offering only representation of an idea and facilitation of a license between a Creative Member and a manufacturer. While the Creative Member retains ownership of all intellectual property rights associated with the idea submission, the Creative Member grants bCreative an exclusive license for a specified period of time to use and sub-license the idea back out to manufacturers. So bCreative is a licensee (receiver of rights) in the licensing transaction with the Creative Member and a licensor (user of rights) in the licensing transaction with the Licensee Member.
